- December 3 - Third of a special 3-Part Applied Economics Seminar series presented by Paul Glewwe. Title: "Econometrics of Program Evaluation." from 10:30 am to Noon (**in Room 119 Classroom Office Building.)
Economists in many different fields are increasingly turning their attention to evaluating the impacts of a wide variety of government and non-government social programs. There have also been many advances in the econometric methods used to evaluate programs. Paul Glewwe will present 3 lectures on program evaluation in the Applied Economics Seminar this fall. The first lecture will give an overview of the issues and examine methods used to design and analyze data from randomized experiments. The second and third lectures will present methods used "retrospective" data (data that are not from a randomized experiment). Those two lectures will cover regression methods, propensity score methods, matching methods, bounds analysis, sensitivity analysis, instrumental variables, regression discontinuity design, and difference in differences methods.
List of seminars to be presented during Fall Semester 2009 will be posted on the web site as they are scheduled in the fall.
