Research interests include economics of education, use of behavioral strategies for improving nutrition, causes of poverty and food insecurity and the role of public assistance in enhancing household wellbeing.

Recent publications have appeared in Economics of Education Review, American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Review of Industrial Organization, Southern Economic Journal and Journal of the American Medical Association.
