Student Funding Opportunities
By no means is this list to be considered an exhaustive list of available student funding opportunities. These are announcements that have been brought to the department's attention through direct mail or email distribution lists. The opportunities are listed in order of due date and will be removed one month after the deadline has passed.

MINNESOTA-NORWAY FULBRIGHT PROGRAM - Spend a year as a Fulbright Scholar at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim. Applicants must be U.S. citizens currently enrolled in any field at the U of MN Graduate School which can be pursued at NTNU. Preliminary applications may be submitted starting on June 1, but no later than August 15. For more information, contact Terry Hurley at tmh@umn.edu.

PERC OPPORTUNITIES - The Property and Environmental Research Center in Bozeman, MT announces a Student Seminar on Free Market Environmentalism, June 23-28, 2008. Successful student applicants will receive a tuition scholarship, meals, lodging and a $500 travel stipend. The application deadline is March 26th. PERCs Graduate Fellowship Program brings students to Bozeman for three weeks during which the fellows write papers of publishable quality. Fellows are paid a stipend as well as reasonable travel costs. The application deadlines are March 15th for summer, June 15 for fall, and October 15 for spring. SCHOLARSHIPS - As part of a major new research effort on resource economics and environmental policy at the University of Western Australia, a number of scholarship will be offered to Ph.D. students interested in the new program. FORD FOUNDATION DIVERSITY FELLOWSHIPS are designed to increase the diversity of the nation’s college and university faculties. The eligibility requirement of applicants are that they be U.S. citizens or nationals and that they are planning a career in teaching and research at the college or university level. There are predoctoral, dissertation, and postdoctoral fellowships available. For more information visit http://national-academies.org/fellowships .

NATIONAL NEEDS FELLOWSHIPS - The Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Missouri has four National Needs Fellowship for MS students in rural community sustainability and three National Needs Fellowship for Doctoral studies in bioenergy and bioeconomics. The University of Missouri at Columbia received funding from USDA / CSREES to offer three National Needs Fellowships in Bioenergy Economics under a project titled, "Biofuels of Today and the Wider Bioeconomy of Tomorrow." The NNF funds three years of study at UMC with a stipend of $24K per year per Fellow, and UMC will fund a fourth year. GRANT FUNDING RESOURCES WORKSHOPS  - The University of Minnesota Libraries, in cooperation withthe Office of the Vice President for Research, is now offering one hour workshops for faculty, staff and students called "Grant  Funding: Search Tools and Resources".  Learn how to use SPIN, Community of Science and the Foundation Directory to search for grant opportunities. ECONOMY AND ENVIRONMENT PROGRAM FOR SOUTHEAST ASIA (EEPSEA) provides awards to cover the costs of fieldwork required for doctoral degree programs. The awards are open to nationals of EEPSEA member countries (Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, China, Papua New Guinea and Sri Lanka. The KRESGE FOUNDATION has announced two new comprehensive grant making programs in the areas of Health and the Environment. Both the Health and Environment programs address health and environment-related social issues. The Environment Program seeks to have tangible effects on the practices and policies associated with climate change and environmental sustainability.
