Minnesota Land Economics

NEW: MLE does graphs! Look for histogram and scatterplot options in data reports.

NEW: 2009 preliminary assessor estimated land values. Major legislatively mandated category shifts this year, so be careful with comparisons to previous years.

NEW: MLE does maps! See your data in geographic context. When you get to the MLE site, follow the green button on the left hand menu.

NEW: Productivity and erosion estimates for each of 8,000+ Minnesota soils. You can aggregate to whatever level you'd like, or you can have us generate acreage distributions.

NEW: USDA Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) contracts, aggregated to township level and above. Also, view single contract details in the Individual Records section.

Lot's of neat stuff here. Create your own farmland or timberland sales data sets. Check out property tax assessments, levies, and net effective tax rates by taxing jurisdiction. Gather township and city level assessor estimates of land value. Calculate average land productivity ratings or USDA soil rental rates by county and soil group. Find out where all those RIM Reserve conservation easements are.

Extension Educators:

Some of my recent presentations/slides are on my ftp site. Look under "presentations." Feel free to make use of them in your own teaching settings. If you'd like the original slides, give me a call.

Some other things that might be useful to you and/or are hard to get through conventional means:

NEW: Here's a long report on CO2 emissions from power plants: Reducing CO2 emissions in the Upper Midwest: technology, resources, economics, and policy.

NEW: You can try out a pilot version of my Energy and Emissions Tracker software. It's now on the web!

REVIVED: AgLand: The Game is once again supported by the University of Minnesota Extension Service.

Extension educators and other professionals might find use for slides from some of my presentations on a wide variety of subjects.

Here's a printable version of my curriculum vitae (pdf format); or, if you'd like, try out this slick on-screen up-to-the-minute live-linked list of my publications from Waite Library.
