The course will examine economic growth and development in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. The topics covered will include agricultural productivity and technology, land and credit markets, health and nutrition, education, population growth, environmental concerns, employment and unemployment, policies to promote economic growth, and the role of international aid and international organizations. The course is designed for Ph.D. students in programs with a strong emphasis on economics.
