10th Joint Conference on Food, Agriculture and the Environment

Duluth, Minnesota
August 27-30, 2006

Sponsored by the Center for International Food and Agricultural Policy (CIFAP), University of Minnesota

Departments and faculty of the University of Minnesota have focused on international aspects of food, agriculture and natural resources for many years. To facilitate the coordinate this work, we developed the Center for International Food and Agricultural Policy (CIFAP) in 1988.

The mission of CIFAP is to address international policy issues of high current relevance in the economics of agriculture, food, the environment and economic development. The role of the Center is to identify relevant policy issues and organize activities that address these issues. CIFAP provides research and policy education through publications, conferences, and workshops resulting from exchange agreements, faculty and graduate student travel grants, graduate student fellowships, externally funded projects, and other related activities.

This conference is the 10th in a series of semi-annual research conferences that have been held since 1988 by the University of Minnesota in collaboration with numerous Italian universities including the Universities of Padova, Bologna, Venice, Firenze, Piacenza, Sienna, Vitervo and others. The focus of these meetings has been on the interrelated questions of agriculture, trade, and enviornment and the public policies and private decisions that affect them. By tradition, the site of the conference alternates between the United States and Italy.
