Farm business and financial management
Bill Lazarus joined the faculty at the University of Minnesota in 1988. He is author of more than 200 extension publications, journal articles, staff papers, book chapters, computer decision aids, and abstracts. He has received awards for excellence in extension programming from the American Agricultural Economics Association and the Minnesota Association of Extension Educators, and received the Outstanding Ph.D. Thesis Award from the American Agricultural Economics Association.
His research interests and extension programs include crop and livestock production economics, farm machinery management, renewable energy, structural change in the agricultural sector and agricultural policy. He also co-teaches ApEc 4501, Financial Applications, with Glenn Pederson.
A native of Pennsylvania, Bill received his BS and MS degrees from the Pennsylvania State University, and his PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1981. He was a member of the faculty at Cornell University from 1981 to 1988.
Past work has appeared in journals including Journal of Dairy Science, Review of Agricultural Economics, Journal of Regional Analysis and Policy, American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Swine Health and Production, Agribusiness, and Journal of Soil and Water Conservation.
