"It's taken some time for the reductions to reach consumers, but Brian Buhr, head of the U of M's Applied Economics Department says price declines at the grocery store are inevitable. "At the end of the day if milk prices stay cheaper at the farm level, they're going to get cheaper at the retail level."

CONGRATULATIONS to Jason Hill and Steve Polasky! Jason and Steve are two of the first cohort of resident fellows selected by the University’s Institute on the Environment. Each of the Institute’s resident fellows will receive flexible funding to engage in creative research and problem solving,  develop new models of teaching and training, and build new networks and partnerships.

These fellowships were established to give both up and coming and established leaders the opportunity to work together on finding “outside the box” solutions to the world’s biggest environmental problems. Fellows will begin their three-year appointments with the Institute in June 2009.
