Current research includes the development of risk metrics and the applications of extreme value theory to the study of catastrophic events in the food industry. In this area Mohtadi he has several ongoing funded research projects. Other areas of research include environmental economics, growth and public policy; governance, corruption and trade; and the study of the behavior of systems (both macro and micro) under incomplete information structures.
