Consumer behavior and food policy

Current research interests include the determinants of consumer food choice, world hunger and economic development, and the impact of globalization and global economic and demographic changes on the food industry.  A recent area of research is the impact of both public and private efforts to combat obesity and encourage consumers to adopt healthier diets and lifestyles.  He teaches courses in food marketing, agricultural development, and consumer behavior.

He is coauthor of the books, Ending Hunger in Our Lifetime: Food Security and Globalization, and Food Trends and the Changing Consumer.  While on leave from the University, he has been a visiting scholar at Cambridge University, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (U.N.), the International Food Policy Research Institute, and the U.N. World Health Organization.
