Admission to the Agricultural and Food Business Management Major from the Pre-Major

Pre-Majors are admitted to the Agricultural and Food Business Management major after satisfactory completion of a pre-agricultural and food business management program. Admission standards are developed in conjunction with the Carlson School of Management. To be considered for admission, students must complete or have in progress 60 credits of coursework. They must also complete the following tool courses on an A-F grading basis: 

  • Acct 2050
  • ApEc 1101 or Econ 1101, and ApEc 1102 or Econ 1102
  • OMS 2550
  • Math 1142 or Math 1271

All tool courses must be completed with a grade of C- or better. The tool course GPA must be at least 2.50 and the overall GPA must be at least 2.80.

Once admission requirements are met, you may apply to the major by completing the application form and submitting it with a current transcript or APAS report to the AFBM Major Coordinator in 217 of the Classroom Office Building. When applying to the major, you will declare an area of emphasis – it is possible to change your area of emphasis later. If you have not yet selected and area of emphasis, your are encouraged to discuss the options with your advisor.
